The conference belonging to the cycle „Development Problems of Technical Means for Agricultural Production” organized by the Industrial Institute of Agricultural Machines in Poznan with cooperation of the BIT Business – Innovations – Technologies Ltd was held under the auspices of the Poznan International Fair Ltd at the stand of BIN Ltd of Aleksandrów Kujawski on the 12th February, 2010 – the second day of the International Fair of the Agricultural Mechanization POLAGRA – PREMIERY. This conference should be seen as continuation of the “Initiation of Innovations” program which was inaugurated two years ago.

Following topics were presented during the conference: „On Essence of the Empirical Research in Improvement of Construction and Exploitation of the Products of the Agricultural Technology” – Tadeusz Pawłowski, DSc, CEO of the Industrial Institute of Agricultural Machines ( PIMR ); „Tools Supporting Process of Preparation of the Agricultural Machines’ Production” – Jan Szczepaniak, DSc, Eng., PIMR; „Developing Trends of the Internal-combustion Engines in Agricultural Machines” – Professor Jerzy Merkisz; „Contemporary Research Laboratories as the Reliable Tool for Verification of the Innovative Solutions in Products of the Agricultural Technology” – Marek Gościański, DSc, Eng.; „Innovative Solutions in the Technology of Plants Protection” – Zdzisław Popławski, DSc, Eng. and Tomasz Szulc, MSc, Eng.; „Lubricants with Ability of Biodegradation for Technical Devices for Timber Production” – Roman Wojtkowiak, DSc, Eng. and Professor Krzysztof Zembrowski.

Finally Professor Kazimierz Mielec, Chairman of the Industrial and Commercial Chamber of the Agricultural and Food Processing Machines in Poznan described technical progress in the field of agricultural machines and devices in retrospection, stressing especially their continuously developing electronic dimension and, moreover, problems of water and electricity saving. First five above mentioned lectures were published in scientific and technical magazine of PIMR „Technika rolnicza, ogrodnicza i leśna” (Technology for Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry ), issue 1/2010, next ones will be published in following issues.

Professor Bolesław Wojciechowicz, former rector of the Poznan Technical University, co-founder of the PIF Gold Medal Competitions and Chairman of the Competition Juries for many years was the Chairman of the Conference’s Scientific Committee. Its members were: Professor Zdzisław Kośmicki, former Dean of the Department of Vehicles and Machines at the Poznan Technical University, presently chairman of the PIMR Scientific Board, Professor Jerzy Merkisz and Tadeusz Pawłowski, DSc, Eng. Organization Committee was chaired by Professor Zdzisław Kośmicki and its members were: Professor Włodzimierz Kęska, Tadeusz Pawlicki, Reader, Eng. and President of BIT Ltd – Mr. Marek Kazanecki, MA.
